Lineage first. Standards that do not bend.

Sur Aur Taal was built on one premise: a student learns the grammar of raga or tala before they perform a single bar. That premise has not changed.

— Our founding rule

Technique before repertoire. Every time.

We do not compress classical training into digestible content. Students repeat the same measures until the body understands what the mind has not yet articulated.

Classical grammar precedes improvisation. Mudra sequence precedes expression. That sequence is not negotiable — it is the inheritance we protect.

+ Verified credentials

Faculty trained in the tradition

Pandit Ramesh Sharma — Vocal & Sitar

Trained under the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana lineage. Credentials verified by the Uttarakhand Sangeet Natak Akademi. Twenty-two years of formal instruction.

He teaches raga from the first swara, not from the first composition. Students spend months on scales before a bandish is introduced.

Smt. Kavita Negi — Bharatanatyam & Kathak

Disciple of Kalakshetra tradition. Certified by the Uttarakhand regional arts council. Seventeen years of teaching classical dance forms.

Footwork and posture are set in the first year. Expression and abhinaya are earned only after the body holds the adavus correctly.

The curriculum begins where others stop.
