Grammar first. Then the music.

Sur Aur Taal is the only school in Kashipur teaching Hindustani vocal, tabla, sitar, harmonium, Bharatanatyam, and Kathak to verifiable conservatory standards.

My daughter has been learning Kathak here for three years. The discipline and depth of instruction are unlike anything available elsewhere in this region.

I learned more about raga structure in the first month here than in two years of self-study. The basics are not skipped — they are the entire foundation.

Consistently rated five stars by students and parents who chose rigour. Credentials verified by the Uttarakhand regional arts council.

+ What We Teach

Six disciplines. Each from the root.

Hindustani Vocal

Tabla, Sitar & Harmonium

Bharatanatyam & Kathak

Swara, alankar, raga grammar, and bandish — structured batches from beginner through advanced. All age groups.

Instrument-specific technique from first position through composition. Separate streams for each discipline.

Adavus, footwork, and abhinaya taught in sequence — the grammar of movement before its expression.

Rigour takes time. Start now.

Admissions are open for all disciplines. Batches fill on merit of commitment, not first-come. Visit the courses page to find your stream.
